From April 1st 2005 it will be mandatory for all boilers
fitted to be A or B rated. That means the boiler must be over
87.5% efficient. 90% for the A rated boilers.
Exemptions are possible but the vast majority of households
and premises will have to have a condensing boiler. We try and
fit condensing whenever possible.
The only appliances reaching that figure in today's general
market are condensing types. We only install A rated appliances
to ensure we are ahead of the legislation.
The other parts of the new legislation means any new boilers
installed after the 1st April 2005 have to be registered with
CORGI within 10 days of installation. This is done by us and
CORGI will then notify the householder where the boiler is
installed that the company used is genuine. Just as importantly,
CORGI also notify the applicable council of the installation
premises that the work has been carried out. This will take on
more important implications when the soon to be passed house
sale laws are brought in. If you sell your house and the boiler
has been installed after 1st April 2005, it must be registered
with the council. Prospective house buyers have the right to
know when the boiler was fitted, by whom and that it was fitted
correctly.
